The Limited Editions is an ongoing, experimental series of paintings on vintage, hardback book jackets exploring the visual elements I am drawn to. Each individual book cover with it's faded surface, tactile nature of the linen and what remains of the spine, fascinate me. They are a constant reminder of what came before, the marks we make in life and what we leave behind.

In practical terms, these book jackets allow me to experiment and go wherever I want, as creativity isn't linear they help me put down what I'm thinking. They're playful and usually a pre curser to bigger works. Line and shape fascinate me. A perfectly straight, regimental line is perfection. And then I ask myself, is it? Is it really what you want in your work? To be completely without fault to me is quite cold, as it holds no character. They say nothing is perfect and I think they're right. For me, the imperfection is where the beauty lies. A broken, frayed edge. A slight blur. An unintentional wobble. It is the human element that draws me in and I believe we are all drawn towards in a work we feel good about. It's the thing that makes us connect.
